Dermablend's Camo Confessions

Remember Dermablend's previous campaign - 'Go beyond the cover'?

I really respect this brand - it's hard to compete and be authentic and have a clear brand personality. But I believe that Dermablend's campaigns are different - these are inspiring and empowering. This brand is in a slightly different market and they clearly show the use of corrective cosmetics for people with mild to severe skin conditions. This isn't about vanity; it's about freeing oneself from ridicule and living a normal life.

Interestingly, they also use YouTube stars to appeal to digital market and young consumers. What can I say? well done..

First Kiss video

Amateur filmmaker Tatia Pilieva has captured that most transient of human interactions on YouTube - the first kiss - in a touching video that reveals the wave of nerves and laughter it seems to bring us.

Interestingly, from the first sight it looks like a usual video made by someone. But actually, well done - it was a carefully thought through marketing stunt. That's how videos go viral once planned.
The video below, titled "First Kiss," features strangers—all wearing L.A. fashion label Wren's fall 2014 clothing collection—meeting for the first time and kissing on camera.

Anyway, it's a wonderful video with 68 million views to date.

Smart YouTube Advertising by Burger King

Everyone hates ads on YouTube. Most of people skips them (not everyone, by the way ;)), but everyone hates them because they disturb them from watching videos people want to watch.

So...The Burger King marketing team also knows this. But marketers always want to have their cake and eat it, too. So New Zealand agency Colenso BBDO created dozens of variations on a pre-roll ad featuring a couple of bros making fun of pre-roll ads.

Each spot is themed to match the video that viewers are attempting to watch, and the actors groan in sympathy about having to endure yet another pre-roll ad. So, they consist, more or less, of a couple of guys saying "Oh, sorry guy, were you trying to watch that? Burgers!"

The case study video fulfills its reason for being by exaggerating the effects of the campaign, saying the ads turned "the worst thing on the internet" into "lolz." Credit to BK and the Auckland agency for making the best of a bad thing. It's clever, and viewers will probably find it worthy of a chuckle the first time around. That said, acknowledging you're an interloper doesn't really excuse it.
The original video is here, but stupid Google doesnt let me choose it here..

It's a smart, interesting, funny and most importantly...clear brand recognition campaign. Well done NZ!

PSY Gangnam Style: Viral Video

Couldnt just skip it!

‘Gangnam Style’ will easily be the biggest viral video of 2012, and this one video has more views (and an equal number of subscribers) than Lady Gaga’s entire YouTube channel combined. PSY is a largely unknown Korean rapper, who some how, has absolutely nailed the content play with a purposely uncool video designed to earn a very different type of attention, parhaps making him YouTube’s biggest star almost over night. Looks like this will be the #1 all time video on YouTube.

How to look your best the morning after

Absolutely amazing!

I was recently thinking about the fact that the click through rates on banners are so low, so why beauty/makeup companies do not consider sponsoring those ladies and people who create and upload videos on YouTube about 'how to...' or 'the make up tutorials'. I thought this is a good opportunity. maybe some companies do that, but I was not sure if they actually, but the idea is still nice.

And today I saw this!

YouTube makeup vlogger Lauren Luke teamed up with BBH London for this shocking PSA disguised as a 'make up tutorial' that helps you camouflage the bruises and injuries from abuse, for charity Refuge.

Luke, who produces videos under her Panacea81 handle, is one of YouTube's more prolific makeup artists, with almost 440,000 subscribers.

BBH: “Lauren’s relationship with her audience is paramount; every content decision and direction she makes is with her subscribers in mind. Her enthusiasm for the cause and participation in shocking her fans is, in short, the kind of unstinting bravery needed to tackle domestic violence as a subject.”

Below there is the former video that was noticed in Cannes Lions 2012 - the first video with a makeup artist doing cause advertising.

Swarovski ‘Be Amazing’ Campaign Goes Virtual

Summer has definitely arrived and it’s luxurious like never before according to the latest Swarovski eyewear. Promoting their new fashion achievement the brand has decided to go social with AR App as part of the Be Amazing campaign. It’s certainly something not seen often, which I can’t say for the campaign name. Using this amazing app you have a chance to win one of the 15 sunglasses from the accessories collection and your only task is to submit you video to the Swarovski YouTube channel. Check the Facebook app as well.

Watching this promotional video you can find out all information about AR App and how to use it. There’s a bunch of tricks how you have to accord your 15 second video but it’s pretty much easy. You just have to have fun wearing Swarovski virtual sunglasses and enjoy in a sparkling rain of crystals. I think that the app’s visual graphic is a bit problematic but the idea is still original.

As the part of this sparkling global campaign Swarovski has even launched a dedicated web site where all the girls can find other useful information.

I love the idea... just because...it reminds me of my favourite initial video idea from the Peugeot 208 campaign! I told about it to the whole my family, so seriously... everyone tried it out!

The Tippexperience the hunter and a bear are back!

After the worldwide success (50 million views and multiple awards) of the Hunter vs Bear campaign for Tipp-Ex, everyone was wondering if Buzzman agency would be able to take up the challenge of a sequel. Job done.

In 2010, the Hunter and the Bear proposed us to rewrite the story. This year, Season 2 goes further by giving us the power to rewrite History.

This this year's campaign by yourself:
And now the campaign from 2010:

April Fools

It is a tradition to fool people of 1st April - April Fool's Day! Here is an example how did some of the companies fool consumers this year! First - Google!

Google Launches New Products on April Fool’s Day: Google Maps 8-bit & Gmail Tap
Simply awesome. For the last few years Google has thrown out great little April Fools, and this might just be the coolest (or at least the most old-skool) yet, launching this video promoting 8-Bit Google Maps for Nintendo! And while it’s obvious it’s an April Fools prank, they actually built it into Google Maps and you can access it here. It’s been so popular people are demanding it stay!

I Will If You Will - WFF

WWF’s Earth Hour is a simple idea that’s quickly turned into a global phenomenon. Hundreds of millions of people turning off their lights for one hour, on the same night, all across the planet. It’s about appreciating the brilliant world we all share – and how we need to protect it. Not just for an hour a year, but every day. It started from 2007 and this year it will happen on 31 March at 8.30pm

The 'I Will If You Will' digital platform, created Leo Burnett with media efforts led by Starcom, encourages people to upload 'I Will If You Will' challenges or dares - for example, one girl promises to propose to her boyfriend if enough people promise to recycle, or you can see the other on the picture, for more just click on the link provided above.
I love how creative and original brands are becoming with YouTube.. For me, it is something new and refreshing, and yes it makes me think. To be fair, I accepted one challenge :) Oh yeah, I also liked the fact, that you can switch languages!
