Diesels movig ads

Is it a GIF? Is it a JPEG? No, it’s a cinemagraph!

Diesel is once again being unique in its campaigns by using trends and originality, combining the recently introduced cinemagraph with its fall/winter 2012 collection.

The cinemagraph is somewhat of a sophisticated GIF – it’s a still picture with only certain moving parts that you can notice if you look a bit closer. They were introduced in 2011 by photographers Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck.

The cinemagraphs were made by acclaimed fashion photographer Steven Meisel. They won’t be used just on the internet, they will also be placed in stores and on digital billboards, which is a major plus since I guess it would be really awesome to see these quirky half-moving ads in person.

App tells which clothers to wear according to weather

You wake up late, with little time to prepare before going to work. You have no idea what the weather is like outside, and don’t have the time to look it up and coordinate your clothes accordingly. If rains comes and you are not prepared, it could be a disaster. Sound familiar?

Well fear not, a recent update to the iPhone app Cloth integrates local weather data into its wardrobe-organizing features. Users snap self-portraits of their favorite looks, share the outfits on social networks, and the app attaches a temperature stamp to the photo.
Then, on a day when they are feeling less creative, users can just search for what works based on the current conditions.
The app does not take any user information to respect user privacy, particularly since many outfit self-portraits are taken in people’s bedrooms. Pretty great for a free program, however the weather matching feature costs a one-time $1 upgrade with obligatory photo filters included.
Check out the new wave of practical, personal weather forecasting in this video of some of the app’s features below:

The best video is here
but I could not find it on YouTube, so slightly less better video.

Uniqlo Pinterest 'Dry Mesh Project'

Uniqlo and NYC based Firstborn team up for a project that owns Pinterest.
To wake Pinterest users from a scrolling slumber, Uniqlo created 100 separate shell Pinterest accounts that pinned images simultaneously. As users scrolled down their favorite categories, they came across all the images, which combined to create giant mosaics that “animated” when scrolled through.
The giant branded mosaics can be seen by Pinterest users whether or not they follow the Uniqlo brand page. The project targets five categories on which mosaics will appear: men’s apparel, women’s apparel, geek, fitness and sports.

The Art of Packing from Louis Vuitton

What a great way to present not only its luggage collection but also the wide range of apparel, shoes and accessories produced by the French luxury brand.

Starting from the size of your bag, learn how to fold t-shirt, jackets, pants etc… and how to dispose them so that everything fits and, most of all, you don’t have to iron all the items again when you reach your destination. Useful and beautiful, the experience allows you to interact with the items and follow the folding instructions step by step, or simply play the video and watch the process.

For a quick sample, watch the video below, but if you have more time, or you are in desperate need for good packing tips, don’t miss the website.

Dogs with sunglasses - Diesel

Could dogs be the new cat? We’ve seen the bark side of the force – now Diesel has launched a film promoting their summer/spring eyeware range starring a foursome of top models bursting with character. I would have loved to have seen the pitch process for this one.

ModCloth Launches Clothing Collection of User-Generated Designs

ModCloth is an online retailer based in San Francisco. The company offers clothing and accessories from 600 independent designers. Part of their stock is decided by a feature launched in 2009 called Be the Buyer. The program lets customers vote on which designs the company should offer. The votes and comments, evaluated by custom “sentiment analysis” tools, help predict demand, a huge advantage in the world of fashion retail.
“The way most of the industry works is, they produce a design on a large scale, then they send it out to stores and hope customers buy it,” Eric Koger says. “Ours is a more lean and agile approach. We involve the customer and get feedback earlier in the process.”
Now the company is launching a clothing line designed by ModCloth’s own customers. In November of 2011, ModCloth held a contest called Make the Cut which invited customers to send in sketches. The contest drew more than 1,900 design entries over a two week period. Voting was done on the company’s Facebook page and elicited more than 1,000 comments. Seven winners were chosen to have their designs produced.
The line goes on sale this spring with an initial run of 200 dresses of the seven winning designs. The winners won’t receive any percentage of the sales. Instead, each will receive a $500 prize and their names will also appear on the labels.
The contest is the first of what ModCloth hopes will be many new ways to engage customers and better target their tastes. If the initial runs sell well, future contests might include shares of the profits for the designers.

Thats absolutely amazing! Check out the dresses! Well... I have a crush on the dresses, so... brilliant idea!

Bird Shoes Series

While standing in line to enter a museum in Holland, Kobi noticed a bird flying. This sight inspired him to incorporate the fascinating shapes and colors of bird into shoe design. The research in this area proved so fruitful that Kobi was reluctant to choose only one bird, and decided to make a series of 3 designs. The basic shape of the bird, which shows the upper as a body/wings and the heel as a beak, can be implemented to numerous birds, each with her own “styling”.
The Mallard duck, Toucan and Swan were chosen due to their unique color combinations and typical, recognizable shapes.

Vivienne Westwood Anglomania SS 2012

I am just in love with this new collection, especially dresses!

Vivienne Westwood is fashion's chief architect of revolt. She was once queen of punk and is no stranger to the forms of sabotage that can pave the way for the next upheaval in style or taste. Her clothes are revolutionary and controversial. Her designs include intentionally twisted seams, intentionally badly cut clothes, designs intended to shock, deliberate contradictions of colour. She ignores conventional fashion directions and goes her own way. She is queen of the original: bustiers, mens kilts, cone-shaped bras as day wear; classical paintings on underwear; the mini crinoline, fake fur trains, woolly royal crowns and so on. Surprisingly, other well-known designers have lavished praise on Vivienne. Rei Kawakubo, the famous Japanese designer says "I think Vivienne's means of expression is profound. Her way of smashing tradition to create something totally new, is wonderful".
