The Art of Packing from Louis Vuitton

What a great way to present not only its luggage collection but also the wide range of apparel, shoes and accessories produced by the French luxury brand.

Starting from the size of your bag, learn how to fold t-shirt, jackets, pants etc… and how to dispose them so that everything fits and, most of all, you don’t have to iron all the items again when you reach your destination. Useful and beautiful, the experience allows you to interact with the items and follow the folding instructions step by step, or simply play the video and watch the process.

For a quick sample, watch the video below, but if you have more time, or you are in desperate need for good packing tips, don’t miss the website.

David Beckham plays Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” or David Beckham brand advertising

David Beckham plays Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” in this new video from Cheil USA for Samsung Galaxy.

As I have already said earlier some brand companies do like to use celebrities, especially athletes, to promote their brand and increase brand identity? Well... and now just consider for a second a brand of David Beckham. He appears in many different commercials, and obviously, most of the money he makes is already not from the football. But the brand of Beckham is getting tired and overused - he advertised Pepsi, Adidas, Burger King, Vodafone Japan, fashion, Gillette and now what - a 'brand ambassador' for technology ads as well? At some point there should be a moment to stop. Can you use any other athlete, please?

Oh and btw you can see some of the ads with David Beckham in this post below. Enjoy!

Naked Brands

Even if a brand is trying hard to express his core values and identity through a logo , there will be always another side that we see, as a customer, based on our experiences and visions. I tried to "undress" some famous brands in this personal project made just for fun.
A series of naked brands by myHOTJuly.

P&G and the Olympics

So... probably THIS is the time! The time for London Olympic games to start releasing their commercials! Let the Olympics advertising challenge begin!

P&G and Wieden+Kennedy Portland go for an emotional easy yet beautiful win: celebrate the moms behind the athletes. Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, the film shows us different moms around the world getting their youngsters up in the early a.m. for training in their respective sports and follows each through the years until their moments of competitive Olympics glory.

IKEA ‘Snap a Napper’

And yes, one more brilliant idea from IKEA!

IKEA has been promoting its affordable furniture with a variety of approaches, from creating a home cozy space with sofas and bookcases in a subway station to initiating a discussion on who is messier, men or women. The brand is determined to help us enjoy every minute spent at home—in the living room or in the kitchen, in the morning or at night. Now IKEA is rolling out a competition dubbed ‘Snap a Napper’ which is revolving around night time and healthy sleep. The retailer is offering its UK consumers, members of IKEA Family, an opportunity to win a packages of sleeping goods including a bed, a mattress, pillows, a quilt and a quilt cover and more, for just snapping people who have fallen asleep in the daytime in public places.
“Know someone that tends to doze off when they shouldn’t? Are they more sleeping beast than sleeping beauty? Take a picture and share it with us. You could both win everything you need to sleep like a princess in our exclusive IKEA FAMILY competition,” says the brand. The funny photos of people how are taking a nap are to be uploaded to the IKEA UK Facebook page—to be among the five finalists, an entrant has to collect as many ‘likes’ as possible, the voting is running until April 20. IKEA will select one winner from the five top-rated photos, and provide the napper and the snapper with the ‘full package’ for a perfect sleep, all worth up to £1500 each.

April Fools

It is a tradition to fool people of 1st April - April Fool's Day! Here is an example how did some of the companies fool consumers this year! First - Google!

Google Launches New Products on April Fool’s Day: Google Maps 8-bit & Gmail Tap
Simply awesome. For the last few years Google has thrown out great little April Fools, and this might just be the coolest (or at least the most old-skool) yet, launching this video promoting 8-Bit Google Maps for Nintendo! And while it’s obvious it’s an April Fools prank, they actually built it into Google Maps and you can access it here. It’s been so popular people are demanding it stay!

The power of 'likes'

Facebook marketing has become extremely important aspect of online marketing and social media strategies.

With Facebook, one of the important tools for a successful marketing solution is the Facebook like.

The Facebook likes are very popular for many reasons. With likes, your message status, links and all other posts you place on your fan page will look appealing and worth looking at. With Facebook likes, the more likes you have on your fan page, the better authority you have on your niche. With Facebook likes, you can get a chance to meet people who actually support or follow your website or blog or buy things from you. As a business or as personality online, the Facebook likes are incredibly beneficial in ensuring that your presence is quantifiable and you know exactly how your market interacts with you.

Probably Facebook likes are good for creating awareness. It’s like when Starbucks releases its new promotion – its posts it on Facebook and if I see that my friend has liked the post – I will probably read it as well. But it greatly depends… Maybe because I am a marketing student and I act differently and I think about too many things.. Yes, it creates awareness, but it doesn’t mean I will be hooked up with the promotion. Firstly, it is all about the person who ‘liked’ – if that’s a simple acquaintance, or a friend, a colleague or a best friend? It depends how popular that person is – if it is not from my ‘close friends’ list – I may not even see this like. But when I saw it, I might not go and check that new promotion. Is it quantifiable? I am really interested in correlation between Facebook likes and sales.

So what is the purpose of a Facebook like?

Stella Artois - 60s aesthetic

Stella Artois is the biggest alcohol brand in the UK and, through its defining 60s aesthetic, proves that big can be beautiful.

Its advertising projects the personality of a cool sophisticate with a wry sense of humour, and it is one that has proved irresistible to its audience. And the brand has sustained this personality across several products. For example, the Anheuser-Busch Inbev-owned beer brand launched into the fast-growing cider market in 2011. Stella Artois Cidre was so successful that the company actually ran out of apples.

Stella’s "she is a thing of beauty" campaign, first launched in 2010, came into its own in 2011. The gorgeous TV and cinema spots led to advances in the Stella aesthetic. The work is testament to the creative chemistry between Stella and its agency, Mother.

Have a look at the amazzziiiiingly brilliant tv commercials!

Net Promoter Score

I have recently read a very interesting article about the ‘Net Promoter Score’ and basically the idea is that by concentrating solely on those most enthusiastic about their experience, the company could focus on a key driver of profitable growth: customers who not only return again but also recommend the company to their friends.

Frederick Reichheld was arguing about the usefulness of long surveys and we he found that the ‘Would recommend’ question generally proved to be the most effective in determining loyalty and predicting growth.

What is loyalty?
Loyalty is the willingness of someone- a customer, an employee, a friend- to make an investment or personal sacrifice in order to strengthen a relationship. Customer loyalty is about much more than repeat purchases. Indeed, even someone who buys again and again from the same company may not necessarily be loyal to that company but instead may be trapped by inertia, indifference, or exit barriers erected by the company or circumstance.

Fresh Impressions on Brandmarks

Beneath is a video where a 5-year-old analyses famous logos, from which we could actually really learn something.
Actually, very popular video from end of January, I remember my Facebook friends talking about it :)
A few days ago there was another video, this time from Britain. Similar stuff, but did not get as much impressions as the first one.
Dont know which one I prefer more, probably the first one - because it was the first (and obviously most interesting), while here you watch it and realise that you've seen that somewhere already and there is no background music as well. Boo!

'The Simpsons' Duff Beer

Duff Beer is a fictional brand of beer in the animated series The Simpsons. It is Homer Simpson's beer of choice. It is a parody of stereotypical commercial beer: very cheaply priced, poor-quality, and advertised everywhere. The beer's official spokesperson is Duffman.

However, it is not fictional anymore :)  The Simpsons have been showing this beer for 23 years in its episodes and fans wanted to try and have the real one, not fictional - so now everyone can try Duff beer for themselves. They had huge demand - they created the real product. Or it is the story how something fictional becomes reality.
The Legendary Duff Beer Company has made the beer available for shipping to the UK for the first time ever to coincide with the screening of the show's 500th episode.Duff Beer, whose slogan is 'Can't get enough of that wonderful Duff' has already been a huge hit across Europe.

'The Legendary Duff Beer is a premium German pilsner that poses a crisp, light refreshing taste along with iconic packaging,' the brewers claim.

'The product has certainly fulfilled its namesake in becoming a modern day legend, developing a cult following across the world.'
Fans of the show can purchase the iconic 4.7 per cent lager online in either bottles or cans.
Different versions of the beer have been made available in various countries over the last two decades including Mexico, Australia and New Zealand.
The beer is also served on tap at a popular pub in New York.
They also have their own website and a Facebook page.

Invisible Mercedes

To promote the “most innovative drive technology” in homeland Germany, the guys from Mercedes took a bit different approach. They relied on the car’s “invisibility” to the environment, and translated the attribute to real life. They have driven an invisible Mercedes across Germany for one week. How they achieved the invisibility, you can see in the video below. And, if it is to judge by the passers’ by reactions, it was done pretty convincingly.

I hope one day I can witness something similar on the street! Cause this is ssoooo cool! And also amazing innovation way of Mercedes promotion :) Well done!

Kit Kat Break Time Friday

Here’s a cute new campaign from Kit Kat“Break Time Friday”. Kit Kat is known for reminding us to take a break (and have a Kit Kat while doing so), and now they are taking the well known slogan to the next level. Break Time Friday is a global social campaign that lets you have a break by sending one of your photos to Kit Kat’s Facebook page and getting your caricature drawn, which you can then share with your friends, and make them smile too. Up to 100 smiling portraits an hour during their Break Time Friday Event. By JWT Italy.

On the other hand... I am curious to find out what Kit Kat will do when it switches to new facebook timeline page! Seems like the company was not prepared to release the timeline together with the other brands or did it do it on purpose - to firstly release this campaign while writing down the history and then creating something new on timeline?

Silicon Valley

I was just wondering recently why I hear about 'Silicon Valley' everywhere. Everywhere in the news some companies are referred as 'Silicon Valley misfits' , 'Silicon Valley companies' , 'Silicon Valley start-ups' and I got really curious what does it mean...and why some companies are called like that and not by their names.

Silicon Valley refers to the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California in the United States. The region is home to many of the world's largest technology corporations.

Despite the development of other high-tech economic centers throughout the United States and the world, Silicon Valley continues to be the leading hub for high-tech innovation and development, accounting for one-third of all of the venture capital investment in the United States.

Top 20 companies
Looking at the brand logos it is easy to understand why Silicon Valley is such a popular term in the news, especially recently. Everyone is just talking about these companies! Also these companies has exceptional buildings and offices - no wonder - they are representatives of the companies!

Why it is such an interesting place?
Ideas flow in the valley like a river. There are numerous technical, business, and entrepreneur groups everywhere. There are breakfast clubs, lunchtime roundtables, meet-ups, and evening pitch sessions. There are so many of these meetings and events that one has to be very selective in choosing which to attend. An entrepreneur can find someone to talk to almost anytime, anywhere-24/7/365. People present their ideas at meetings; they talk with colleagues and potential investors about them; entrepreneurs gather feedback and refine and hone their ideas. Product concepts and new business models are bantered about on a huge scale. It's a regional brainstorming meeting. This is the reason why, when an idea emerges, there can be dozens of start-ups funded to pursue the same product.

Angry Birds

‘Angry Birds is the first waste of 75 millions people's time that can be accurately quantified. Every day, users spend 200 million minutes -- 16 years every hour -- playing the mobile game.’

The first time I have heard about Angry Birds, was on my first day when I purchased smartphone and looked at the market for new applications and games. Right now I hear about Angry Birds everywhere!

A bit of a history
Angry Birds is a Finnish strategy puzzle mobile game developed by Finnish computer game developer Rovio Mobile. First they had to save a company in crisis: at the beginning of 2009, Rovio was close to bankruptcy. Then they had to create the perfect game, do every other little thing exactly right, and keep on doing it. There had been developed 51 titles before Angry Birds.

The development of Angry Birds was started in March 2009. After the successful creation of the development team of Rovio, they released the game in December 2009 and the next is history. Angry Birds became the number one game app in Finland. It took US and UK by storm where Apple’s participation was the key to make it all happen.

How characters were developed
When the concept of Angry Birds was developed, the staff realized the birds needed an enemy. At the time, the "swine flu" epidemic was in the news, so the staff made the birds' enemies pigs.

And now
Angry Birds has been praised for its successful combination of addictive gameplay, comical style, and low price. Its popularity led to versions of Angry Birds being created for personal computers and gaming consoles, a market for merchandise featuring its characters and even long-term plans for a feature film or television series. With a combined 500 million downloads across all platforms and including both regular and special editions, the game has been called "one of the most mainstream games out right now", "one of the great runaway hits of 2010", and "the largest mobile app success the world has seen so far".

It is funny how much people can get fanatic about something. It is like Harry Potter concept – it is now branded everywhere, hopefully it will not be as annoying. Will Angry Birds one day become like Disney 2.0? Or people will forget about then in 5 years? There is no answer to that. But looking at the recent ‘NASA announcement’ – Angry Birds are getting only more and more popular.
