Did you know that only 4% of women believe they are beautiful? According to the Dove’s latest campaign created by Ogilvy, this shocking statistic is true and certainly disturbing. To build up our self-confidence, Dove brand has created “The Ad Makeover”, a Facebook application
that is expected to hit 5 million users. It’s aim is to replace our
every imperfection with simple feel-good messages and to make us feel
better about ourselves. The most important thing is that you can also
send your message to the millions of women and make someone’s day
better.
“The perfect bum is the one you’re sitting on”; “When it comes to your body, love the one you’re with” or “Think of your cups as half full”, are just a few of them.
As a part of this project, the brand has paid attention to all the
small and annoying Facebook ads that are telling us how we should lose
weight and inject plastic into ourselves. The campaign has got a really
influential idea if it is to be taken seriously – a few inspirational
words to forge our bodies’ makeover. I believe that a lot of women will
consider this useless, but we all have had those bad days when maybe
something like this could make us feel gorgeous, if you just want to
believe in it.
Since 2004 Dove has really stood for all the “real” women launching
the campaigns without skinny professional models and discovering the
beauty of imperfection. It has turned up to be the best beauty marketing
that made Dove one of the best selling cosmetics brands.
